April Wine Notes

Hello April!

Celebrate Earth Day with Rove Winery.

At Rove Winery, the land isn’t just where we grow grapes, it’s the foundation of everything we believe in.

As a fifth-generation family farm perched high above Grand Traverse Bay, our story has always been rooted in stewardship of the earth. Long before sustainability became a movement, it was simply the way farming was done: caring for the soil, respecting the seasons, and protecting the land so it can thrive for generations to come.

Earth Day is a natural extension of that philosophy.

From vineyard to glass, every decision we make reflects our commitment to thoughtful farming and environmental responsibility. We focus on sustainable vineyard practices, mindful resource use, and a deep respect for the ecosystem that allows our wines to flourish.

When you enjoy a glass of Rove wine, you're not just tasting Northern Michigan, you’re experiencing the result of land cared for with intention.

This Earth Day, we invite you to raise a glass with us in celebration of the planet that makes it all possible. Explore our award-winning wines, crafted with respect for the earth, and join us in honoring the land that inspires every vintage.

Because at Rove, caring for the earth isn’t a single day, it’s a legacy.

Happy Earth Day from the Rove family.

April Wine of the Month - 2023 Unoaked Chardonnay

Tasting Notes: Pineapple and papaya aromas burst forth, accented by the creamy richness of yogurt, a taste reminiscent of indulgent childhood treats. Beneath the surface, lies a hint of minerality, like river rocks warmed by the sun.

We are pairing our 2023 Unoaked Chardonnay with Quicos (Spanish large, salty, fried corn nut) and you won’t want to miss it. The bright tropical notes of pineapple and papaya in the unoaked Chardonnay are lifted and intensified by the salty crunch of the Quicos, making the fruit feel even more vibrant on the palate. At the same time, the wine’s subtle creamy, yogurt-like texture softens the intensity of the fried corn, creating a balanced, rounded mouthfeel. The hint of minerality ties it all together, echoing the roasted depth of the Quicos while the wine’s natural acidity cuts through their richness, leaving the palate refreshed.
