We're excited to welcome Chris Sterr to the Rove stage for his first performance with us. A Traverse City fixture since 2010, Chris built his chops over ten years on the road with his Detroit-based band, Bump, and has been a steady presence on the Northern Michigan music scene ever since. His playing pulls from deep blues roots and stretches into improvisational and pop-rock territory, drawing on everything from Motown to Jeff Beck. A fun, interactive experience that turns wine tasting into a personality test. Through some light-hearted personification of wine, guests will sip through five Rove Winery wines, answer a few questions, and be matched with their wine alter ego — uncovering their true wine personality along the way. You'll also pick up some basic wine tasting techniques and knowledge, making this the perfect experience for novices and experts alike. Just bring your curiosity and an open mind! The tasting is paired with locally sourced bites to really make the wine personalities pop.

After years away in Los Angeles and Chicago, and time spent touring the world as an arts education ambassador with The Young Americans, he returned home to Northern Michigan and has been a full-time musician ever since. He performs both solo and with his trio, Broom Closet Boys, and remains a steady presence across the Grand Traverse music scene.

Homegrown is a father–daughter duo (Tim and Anna) known for their heartfelt acoustic covers, blending influences from ’40s vocal jazz, Americana/newgrass, French bistro, ’60s/’70s soul, modern and alternative rock, and more. Their performances are rich in harmonies and instrumentation, creating a warm, dynamic sound that resonates across generations.

Tim is a retired schoolteacher who spends his summers landscaping unique patios and his winters snowboarding. Anna works as an engineer in town and spends her free time foraging in the summer and, much like her dad, snowboarding once the snow hits. The two have been playing music together for Anna’s entire life, giving their performances a natural chemistry that feels effortless.
