Interesting Fact: Cabernet Franc is one of the parent grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, created when it naturally crossed with Sauvignon Blanc in 17th-century France. While often used in blends, Cabernet Franc shines on its own, offering a more elegant and aromatic expression than its offspring.

At Rove: Cabernet Franc  thrives in Northern Michigan’s cool climate, delivering a profile that’s both structured and lifted. At Rove, our expression leans into wild red berries, cracked pepper, and a whisper of dried herbs, with tannins that are firm but elegant. It’s a wine that rewards the curious: earth-driven, layered, and unapologetically expressive, just like the land it comes from.

While each vintage brings its own personality shaped by the rhythm of weather and time, we believe that if you were to taste our wines blind, you’d still recognize something unmistakable: the heart of our land, the care in our farming, and the patience poured into every bottle. These are the threads that run through each season, and each sip. Below are some of the qualities and winemaking choices that define Rove year after year, our quiet signatures that make our wines uniquely ours.

  • Body:Medium Body

  • Common Aromatics & Palate: Herbaceous, Tobacco, Black Raspberry
